Smart Millennials Series #4: Track your CNY Calories

CNY is just right around the corner and what's second best to angpow is CNY GOODIES!!!

Pineapple tarts, love letters, Dried Shrimp roll and many more! It's hard to keep track on how much calories we are putting into our body as we go house visiting!

However due to covid restrictions this year, it might be easier to be more conscious on how much treats we are eating. Here is a chat for reference!

1. Bwa kwa

Calories per slice: 301

The salty-sweet flavours of bak kwa will have you coming back for more, but beware, the thin slices of Chinese jerky are deceivingly yummy (and calorific!).

2. Pineapple Tart

Calories per piece: 93

Pineapple tarts are certifiably yummy and sugary! But that’s where the danger lies—there are 3.5 teaspoons of sugar in each tart! That’s a lot…and how many can you eat in one sitting?

3. Kueh bangkit

Calories per piece: 15

These delicate tapioca and coconut cream cookies are absolutely delectable—they melt in your mouth, making them irresistible!

4. Kueh Lapis

Calories per slice: 237

This steamed pudding cake, originally from Indonesia, is soft, buttery and sinfully good—it’s pretty much impossible to just eat one slice!

5. Dried shrimp roll

Calories per piece: 23

Lowest amongst them all, however crunchy and addictive!

6. Love letters

Calories per piece: 56

This classic Chinese New Year cookie is everyone’s favourite. Love letters, as they are fondly known, are crispy, buttery and oh-so-addictive!
